2025 Unkown Jake Jamboree

I wanted to share an event that is close to my heart. I have been helping to support a Shoreline lacrosse family whose son, Jacob, heartbreakingly passed away in 2024 at the age of 19, in a tragic accident. The family is hosting a 3 by tournament to bring the community together and to celebrate Jacob's passion for life and lacrosse.

Some background on the family: Jacob (and his twin brother Kenyon) were on my Cityside travel team throughout middle school. Some of you may know him as a long-time Egg and Spoon camper and a valued member of the Shoreline lacrosse program.

As a pair of black kids, adopted by a biracial couple, they had difficult experiences socially at times, in a not very diverse sport. With strong support, they persevered, found friend groups, a passion for sport, and a home in the WA lacrosse community.

Jacob’s family is looking to give back to the WA Lacrosse community. To do so, they are currently establishing a foundation in Jacob's name. The foundation's goal is to support opportunities for kids to attend WA lacrosse summer camps (for families who might otherwise be unable to afford them). In addition to the lacrosse component, the foundation will also help adopted kids in the WA area attend the Adoption Family Camp in Sun Lakes, WA. This camp was near and dear to Jacob, and he and his family attended it every year.

To raise funds for this foundation (and to remember and honor Jake), the family has created a celebratory 3 by tournament (see attached flyer)

Basic event Info:

Teams are made up of groups of 3-4 players of any age, gender, or skill level.

Each team is asked to donate (team fee) to Jacob’s foundation (all money raised will go towards the mission of getting kids to WA lacrosse and/or the Adoption Family summer camps).

**NOTE: Naomi (Jacob’s mom) wants everyone to know that if the cost is a hindrance to participation, please say so and send her an email (nmaxey@j9legacy.org). She wants all to have access to participate.

I am asking you all to please share this event with your groups and spread the word! If you have players in your own circle, register a team! Jacob (and his family) have had a tremendous impact on me as a coach and as a person. I feel lucky to have had the time I spent around them. I am all in to support them and hope that you find it in your hearts to join me and share in celebrating Jacob.
